Planet Blender Sidebars

Planet Blender has now two sidebars in which the ten latest builds from Graphicall.org and the ten latest commits to the Blender SVN repository are shown (using the RSS feed from CIA.cv.

This should make it clearer to read the blogs, and still have instant access to what happens! Keep an eye on the sidebars to see if a new build for your system is available.

I’ll keep adding new features to Planet Blender for your reading convenience.

Blender.org down – some information

From the blender.org administrators:

The last few days the website of Blender 3D has been down. The site has been very slow and unresponsive quite a bit, but we are investigating as to what causes this problem.

The latest guestimate is that it might be a hardware problem. Rest assured that we’re trying to get it all back online as soon as possible. Unfortunately until then there’s nothing much you can do but wait.

Well, that’s not cool. Let’s just hope everything works out alright!

New Planet Blender site launched

After a good week of coding and testing, the new site of Planet Blender has been launched. The new features work great: you can search in the blog messages that have been archived at Planet Blender, you can browse to older pages with blog messages.

Under the hood there are some changes that make it easier to maintain and update feeds and posts.

But the most important part is of course that Planet Blender got even more enjoyable than it already was.

Planet Blender would be nothing without the many feeds that have been subscribed, and its success will continue to rely on the great Blender community we have. If you know more good feeds that you think should be a part of Planet Blender, please contact Nathan Letwory with links to the feeds you want to see included.

Enjoy the site!

Planet Blender nearing completion

This and last week has been full with working on the new site for Planet Blender, with new features and a new layout.

This news section has now had a facelift to ensure it integrates nicely with Planet Blender. The beta site should go live soon.

Planet Blender News – beta version of the site

Planet Blender News reports on development of the Planet Blender site and any news related to that.

To start this blog, I want to share with you the development of the site from the last week. I’ve started working on a better site with a simple search and an archive.

The current feed count is a little over 40,  and we’re still growing. One of the new features is that the blog list in the blog menu is sorted based on recent activity. It is also now easier to disable feeds temporarily from showing if the need for that arises.

Lastly, a new layout is being worked on. A few issues are still open (header and some icons), but it’s getting there.

Check the beta site out here: http://beta.planetblender.org.
